Kratom has a bitter taste that can be overwhelming to some people. Thankfully, there are methods that have shown to reduce this pungent flavor. One of these methods involves mixing it with other ingredients, such as sugar and chocolate.
Making Kratom chocolates is fairly simple and once you master the task, you will be able to create all types of delicious treats utilizing your Kratom chocolate.
Choosing A Kratom Strain
There are several strains of Kratom, but which one is best for making chocolate? The best strain of Kratom will depend on the individual. If you are familiar with the different stains, you are probably aware that they have different flavors and effects.
While one person may prefer White Borneo Kratom, another person may prefer Red Maeng Da. It never hurts to experiment with the flavors a bit, before you actually put your recipe to the test.
- 120 to 150 Grams of Kratom
- 1 Cup of chocolate chips (can be substituted for chocolate bars)
- Dash of lecithin
- 1 Cup coconut oil
- 2 Cups cocoa powder (can substitute one cup of cocoa powder with powdered coffee
- ½ Cup sugar
- Optional – piperine and cayenne
Measuring Out The Kratom
The Kratom dose for this recipe will depend on how much chocolate you want to make. It is recommended to utilize 120 to 150 grams of Kratom for six pieces of chocolate. Once you become familiar with the process, it will be much easier to determine the Kratom dose.
Remember, everyone’s taste buds are unique. So, while some people may prefer utilizing a higher Kratom dose, people with taste sensitivity will go with a lower dose.
Chocolate Chips Or Bars
Chocolates utilized for baking and cooking purposes is available in both chips and bars. Regardless of which type you utilize, it will need to be melted down to a thick liquid. Chocolate chips are much easier to measure out than the bars. So, if you want to be more precise with your recipe, the chocolate chips will be your best option.
Preparing Your Kratom
There are several ways to prepare Kratom for making chocolate. To reduce Kratom’s bitter flavor, you can mix it with one cup of coconut oil with a dash of lecithin. Place the mixture in a pot and cook on low for at least 15 minutes. You can also bake the mixture in a conventional oven at 212 degrees for at least 30 minutes. Both heating methods work great for this recipe.
Adding Additional Ingredients
Remove the Kratom mixture from the heat and pour it into a large mixing bowl. Add two cups of cocoa powder to the mixture and mix thoroughly with an electric mixer. Add ½ cup of sugar or a little more, if you like really sweet chocolate.
This is also the perfect time to add cayenne or piperine, a black pepper extract, to give your chocolate a spicy flavor. This is optional, so if you do not enjoy spicy chocolate, just ignore this step.
When mixing, make sure the mixture does not contain any clumps. No one likes clumpy chocolate, even if it is made from Kratom. If you believe the consistency is too thin, you can add more sugar. If it is too thin, just add more coconut oil.
Once your chocolate is smooth with the perfect consistency, it will be time to pour it into molds or in a non-stick glass pan. Place the pain in the refrigerator for four hours or until the chocolate is completely hardened.
Keeping Your Chocolate Solid Longer At Room Temperature
At room temperature, chocolate will melt extremely quickly. If you want to display your Kratom chocolate, you can utilize butter instead of coconut oil.
